With the reaction the ensued with two buildings falling down---the economy going into a depression and millions of jobs lost in a day. One has to wonder what would happen if a whole city were obliterated? Furthermore, what would happen if Israel were obliterated? What would the American people do?

Furthermore, what if the aggressor did not identify himself---if north korea sells a weapon to Iran, which in turn gives it to a terrorist cell to obliterate Israel? Would we just become isolationist? totalitarian? or hunt all black markets around the planet? Nuke every aggressor nation that supports terrorist? give them 48 hours to hand over all nukes and surrender regime or we nuke them?

I think this day of post-apocalyptic doom is overdue--and I am pretty sure Americans would (over-reaction?) and obliterate Iran and N Korea off the map, with stricter security world-wide--This would be the real deal for a NEW world order. Thoughts?

I think the responders are quite optimistic of what a post-nuclear world would look like. I don't, one of north korea's nukes, as primitive as they can be, or Iran's or any soviet republic's old arsenal, would obliterate New York---and that would not just be a "city block" --It would really give a new meaning to "**** hitting the fan."

Nukes are over-rated. Most of the megaton warheads from the 60s have been phased out of various country's arsenals in favor of small "tactical" weapons. These can take out a city block - and you wouldn't want to be downwind for a few days - but they aren't city destroyers.

we wont need much security once a nuke hits us, cause we will unleash the fury and nuke the $hit out of places...as dennis miller said, turn the middle-east in superman's fortress of solitude (heat turning sand into glass/crystal - dont recall which). once we demolish all of our enemies, no need for hieghtened security. dont have to worry about iran and NK if they are nuked off the face of the planet! and this administartion? are you saying that if a demo was running the place that he wouldnt re-act to being nuked? that he'd try and dimplomatically solve the issue? or just take their slow sweet time doing it? you're country just got nuked, any president should get pretty pissed about that and want to fight back - although i do agree it shoudl be against the right targets, but thats not too hard to guess these days

I think our current administration would do as it did after the events of 9/11 ... look for the first, most obvious targets they can convince the people were responsible (regardless of actual proof) and then attack indiscriminately, killing millions of innocent civilians.

Well, the liberal response would be it's our fault, we deserve to die. And to a degree it is true, Libs do deserve to die for being traitorous bastards.

Conservatives would opt to launch a retaliatory strike at the responsible parties and neutralize any further threat to the American people.

It would lead to martial law, and the beginning of some type of totalitarian government....kinda like what's beginning now.
