Can boot camp force you to cut your hair even if you woud be going against your religion for cutting your hair?...Here's the situation. The D.A. (Prosecuting Attorney) made a plea agreement (A Deal) that will send this person to boot camp and probation. The thing is, the boot camp that he's going to requires that he cuts his hair, but if he does so, he will be going against his religion. Is it possible for the person to "slide" without cutting his hair during boot camp? Please give accurate feedback.. Thank you.

Yep. If it is a military boot camp then that falls under the jurisdiction of the military (no hair for the convicted). If it's one of those BS wanna be boot camps... well there may be some wiggle room.

I am guessing that your friend is a Seik [mis-spelled?], Rasta, or one of the Eastern religions where cutting of the male's hair is forbidden. In that same vein, I am sure that that same religion has some rules on breaking the law- which your friend doesn't seem to be contesting since he is trying to take a plea agreement. If he doesn't want his hair cut, he should take the PUNISHMENT! You can't have it both ways: escape full punshiment, but not completely submit to the plea agreement.

As my drill sargeant said ALL THROUGHOUT BASIC:
"The military was designed to DEFEND democracy, not PRACTICE it!" Most Boot Camps follow after this idea.

Basic Training is implemented in a manner that strives to strip away individuality and foster 'brotherhood', comradery, and [often] nationalism. Sure- it is pretty much brainwashing to produce obedience and respect for authority, but I am not bashing it... I actually miss it sometimes- in a sick 'Stockholm Syndrome' kind of way!

Anyway- the point is that you should not join\volunteer for any activity like a 'Boot Camp' if you are ACTIVELY trying to retain your 'uniqueness' or individuality. It is the WRONG place for sore thumbs to be sticking out- because they will get POUNDED!

He will cut his hair. He is making a deal, and that means he agrees to go and participate in the Boot Camp program. If he really does not wish to have his hair cut, he can decline the deal and go to prison.

No. If this is a US military boot camp, his hair must be cut. There is no legal "wiggle" room.

He would resist going into the Military....because HIS HAIR??? How childish. Sounds to me like hes just afraid and too proud. I understand his feelings as does anyone who went into the Military. But he regardless of religion will have to cut his hair. Its a health issue as well.
