Okay the wicker man is loo sly based on the burning man held in Nevada every year. Yes this type of Druidic Ritual is held every year on Ostara or even in Beltane, depending on the Pagan Group you belong to. Since I myself, am a Druid it is held in Ostara as a sacrifice to the gods, but just so you know, the human part is left out. The Wicker Man Ritual was mostly held near Stonehenge in England but due to the Christian King killing off of the Druids in England, the ritual was moved to Ireland near the Dancing Giants. Let me know if you need more info.

It probably does all over the place, I'm sure something dodgy went on somewhere on Dartmoor a few years ago, my Dad was there at the college at the time, his friend came back from a walk on the moors and said he'd seen a dead woman hanging from a tree, he reckoned it was some sort of ritualistic sacrifice, so yes, I'd say it happens, I just hope my friends and family never get dragged into anything like that! :)

sure to be set in u . s .. the unique is a classic. this may be the prevalent Hollywood rubbish, with a happy ending. i will nonetheless watch it in spite of the indisputable fact that as I fee Nick Cage. BTW who's taking the Brit Ekland function and could they do it justice?

I haven't seen it, but would like to see the original.
There was an episode of "Supernatural" with the same story. It was called "Scarecrow".
