Take the $500 and put as much to that as you can toward the guitar and use about $80 to get a practice amp like the Fender 15w series. Look about Schecter guitars as they come from the factory better than about any other series for the money. Depending on what style you play they have about any guitar that you'd want for really no more than $600 or so and many at a lower price. I used to work in a music store and do not recommend Fender products as many are poorly made and need considerable 'setup' when they arrive from the factory. Go to a music store and play the guitar you like and get the feel for which body style works best for you and get it from them because they will hook it up if they are cool with some extras and plus they should have already setup the guitar for optimum playability. I could talk about this crap all day so feel free to contact me with any other questions. Cheers!

Definatley go with an Ibanez. I love mine and I got it for $200 cheaper buy shopping online and then going to a store.

I have a floating tremelo too, sounds great with a $50 amp from Marshall.

Everyone is saying go with Ibanez man. You won't be dissapointed. the shape and sound these well made guitars provide is incredible.

I am a big Ibenez fan and you can usually pick one up under 500. Crate make a very affordable amp.
