Because they don't matter, in the scheme of things.

It is one of those thankless jobs.

In some cases, the President actually does have his own input in those speeches. Like George W. Bush puts a lot of "Uhhh..." and "Ummm...", and points into his speeches.

The writers aren't the ones who stand before the nation to speak the words and convey the message. If the speech is a bad one, the writer won't get the blame either.

It is there legacy. A president will set a blueprint if you will and it his reputation for speaking such words. Abe Lincoln actually wrote the Gettysburg express himself. Ironically the most powerful and famous speech in American history was given by one of the most ineffective speakers of his time. Maybe Bush can pull a rabbit out of his hat yet. Great men do not make great presidents...great events make great presidents.

Are you a disgruntled speech writer? What kind of silly question is this? I guess we should start acknowledging the animators at Disney too. Oh and all the graduate students that make Professors and Researchers great. And hey let's just sum up. It's all just God, Allah, Buddha, Shiva, and the Tao. Thanks for the speechs. Real issues next time please!
