Yay 14!! well (and this is coming from a teen (13) ) I think as far as games go one easy thing that could cost like 3$ at most would be Balloon truth or dare, What u do is just make up wacky things to do. Then write them all on a sheet of paper and number them. Then Randomly number a bulliten board and put a balloon in front of every number. Then get a dart and have people pop the balloons, then tell them what they have to do based on what it says on the paper...(I played this at a friends party it was awesome!! They cling-wrapped me to the basketball hoop!!!)
Another good game is...Noodle wars, Just find a sturdy very thin table, and get 2 big foam noodles, put a person on each side and first to fall of loses. Should cost about 5$ because of noodles.
Also make sure you have music...u can rent a DJ or just get a boom box and make mixes.
You could take a T.V. Outside and put up lawn chairs for movies
Or Get a kareoke machine.
Capture the flag is another great game!! U probably no the rules
Also if you have a basketball hoop thats fun, or You could rent 2 Huge inflatable b-ball hoops and get a big inflatable ball.
Also Volleyball, Football, soccer, relay races.
You could tie-dye shirts!<
For food for dinner you could just grill burgers and hot dogs, and then maybe order some pizzas. For sides just get chips and stuff there teens we luv chips and junk food. Or you could get frozen fries and cook them inside. For snacks just get cookies or cupcakes. Or you could rent a sno-cone maker...they taste awesome!!
It shouldn't cost much..IF YOU NEED MORE IDEAS IM ME I MIGHT BE ABLE TO THINK OF MORE.

Ok since your brother is turning 14 he wants something big because, of the age that he is turning.. You should go to the nearest grocery store and get some chips, you could mix a nice dip together that your brother likes if you want to or buy the dip as it is, last but not least some meat and do something on the grill to make his party a little interesting.. He would like this because, when I turned 14 I wanted something big but not to big because, the age is not like I am turning 21 so if this advice helps you your brother would like this for a nice party idea... I hope his party turns out nice and when his Birthday comes please tell him that Ericka said ~HAPPY BIRTHDAY~!!!! Make sure that you don't throw him no hints that you are throwing him a party.. But you could ask him what he would like for his birthday.. If you would like to make his party the way he wishes...

i love surprise birthday party and especially capture the flag i play it all the time
maybe ask him what kinds of foods he likes i don't think pizza should be the main dish cause i always eat that on birthday parties so it gets kind of tiring. You can make the food. it doesn't cost much though you have to buy the ingredients. but that doesn't mean pizza is not good. I think you should decide for yourself

I think a nice "pot-luck" bring-some-food-item-you-made to the party. It will be a little bit more special if everyone brings a snack and you are the one to make the main dish. No one has to try everything, but a little "garden variety" never killed anyone. The question here is what do 14 year-olds eat? I would think something quick and simple to eat would suit for this party could just be hot dogs, potato salad, and then you ask your friends to bring a little something to add to the mix. It shouldn't be a hassle.

Manwich, is the way to go. Buy some ground beef a few cans of Manwich, buy your buns from a bread store, they are day old but still fresh an soft, go to the $ store, buy some chips and dip you have a great party, any one will get full. Plus there will be alot left over for the kids if they want to eat later in the party. Good luck.

with food, pizza, chips, hot dogs, anything that is part of the 6th food group....... JUNK.......
here are a few game ideas: tell the guest to bring old clothes they can get real dirty in.
1= fill water balloons with non toxic paint and let them have paint ball fights.
2= Jelly make as much jelly as you can and have a blow up kiddies pool fill it with jelly and they can have jelly wrestling.
3= make treasure maps. make a large map then cut into 6 pieces.
start with one map that will lead to the next map and so on.
when they get to the X have some kind of treasure there.
if you don't want to spend to much on party favours just have something simple
eg: the birthday cake on a table.
I did this for my 13 year old and they all enjoyed them self immensely.
Keep them busy I say.
good luck hope all goes well

For that age group, I would say keep the food simple. Kids seem to like it when they "build their own" food items. Think about just hot dogs with all the fixins, but make the "sundae buffet" the BIGGY. Have several different flavors of the cheapest ice cream you can find, but make it fun by having all the fixins in the world: nuts, fruits, sauces, sprinkles, etc. Let each guest build their own, with a prize for the most creative. Congrats....sounds like you've really done your homework on all the other.

Little Ceasar's pizza is 5 dollars a box, which isn't bad pizza, and really cheap. You could also get a sandwich plate instead.
As for filling snacks, anything with protein is good, ie peanut butter will fill the kidos up and they won't want to keep eating.
Crackers, cheese, and pepperonis are also good for an outside snack.

A chocolate or cheese fondue would be neat or a real cotton candy machine or slushy drink maker you could rent or buy. Also there are many recipe sites that have all kinds of appetizers and party recipes, you could even print the ones that will work for your party and send the recipe with the invitation and have everyone bring something to add.

If the weather is nice I say go for a BBQ. Make hamburgers-hotdogs-potatosald and lots of chips and pop. All are very cheap and easy to make and teens love it! Or go for a pizza party! The more you buy the more they will lower the price for you! Teens totally love Pizza too! Good luck
