A clicking noise is probably from your hard drive... and it's not a good sign. Usually they start clicking when they're about to die... so I'd recommend backing up your data ASAP. Grab all the important stuff (like documents, pictures, etc) instead of trying to back up the entire drive. You never know when it will just die, so you don't want to waste time backing up stuff you don't really need (like the operating system files). Good luck.

this received't be so severe because it first seems besides the actuality that a damaged demanding force may be the first assumption. If the computing device changed into writing to the demanding force even as it 'dropped' then documents on the demanding force may were corrupted and this can reason the utility mistakes you're seeing. in case you could run some thing like 'scandisk' this can help. inspite of the actuality that use 'chkdsk' which could do a extra proper activity of convalescing damaged sectors. making use of your laptops fix concepts may be yet differently to get the utility functioning yet attempt to maintain any major documents to a much off gadget (USB stick, telephone memory etc) first because it will be misplaced in case you reformat your demanding force. both way, it does sound like your OS must be reinstalled. Does it sound like some thing is free interior your computing device? besides the actuality that 'ticking' noises can come out of your demanding force, this isn't the only shifting section. some debris on your fan or perhaps your cd/dvd force (is there a disk in there?) ought to reason this noise.

Is it coming out the laptop or out of the speakers? I had an old laptop that had a problem whenever i plugged in my network card. Whenever i was using it, it would make this awful popping and buzzing noise. Turns out it was a defect with the motherboard which i couldnt do anything about. It could be the hard drive, a fan, or the plastic expanding or something of that nature. If its coming out of the speaker, there probably isnt much you can do about it. Other than plugging in some headphones to shut it up, thats what i had to do, lol.
Good Luck!

That's probably your harddrive. You can make it stop by getting rid of your laptop and replacing it.
The noise you hear is the read/write head travelling over the drive platters. That requires a lot of rapid motion, and if it is not properly calibrated/aligned it will make a clicking noise.
Or it could be a fan... but I've never heard of that happening, that's just the only other moving part I can think of that could cause noise like that.

its most likely a fan and maybe the cdrom drive...remotely possible it could be the harddrive ....
you may be able to work somthing like the hairs on a paintbrush into the grill where the fan is and work any built up dust loose if thats the problem....for the cdrom just open it and see if its still clicking,,if so replace it theyre pretty cheap...for the harddrive defragment and see if the frequency of the clicking changes...if so you either need to cleanup ur operating systems running processes or get rid of spyware/viruses or replace the drive...not very expensive either compared to a new laptop or losing all ur data.

Clicking sounds are usually bad - many times they are precursors to hard disk problems. Could be the fan though - hop its that. Get a tech to look at it ASAP.

It's thinking.
Seriously, it sounds like either the 0/1 switches switching over, or something going on with the fan.
