Firstly, why would you want to? Do you have a fear of liking a transsexual woman and you think you would be gay for doing so?

If a person is a female mentally and physically (at least as far as surgery will allow), and she is straight (she likes men sexually), then you aren't gay for being interested. If she is straight, she is not interested in gay men, and besides, if you were (or she thought you were), she probably wouldn't have been interested in you in the first place.

Another question- if a woman has a hysterectomy or is past menopause, is she still a real woman? Neither of these women can get pregnant, nor can a surgically created woman like a MtF transsexual can, either.

So, really, why would you care? She may have had a penis at one time, but she was never really a man. Just having the plumbing doesn't determine who is what.

If you were born witha horn on your forehead, does that make you a unicorn? No.

It would seem somewhat prejudiced of you to delineate transsexuals from real women. If the only definition of a real woman is someone who was born female, how can you ever really accept, much less understand, transsexuals? From the earliest age of cognizance, most transsexuals recognize that their bodies do not match their identities. Is it really so difficult to accept that a woman is anyone who idenitifies themselves as a woman and/or chooses to live within the cultural norms by which we identify others as women?

Yes, they indeed do look like real women, but they are not. They will never have a period, ergo never bear a child. The adam's apple, even if removed, the scar would be apparent to a certain degree. Also, most women have what is called a "treasure trail", which is a dark line that goes from the navel to the pubic hair.
Finally, a woman doesn't usually initiate anal sex, but a transexual would.

The majority of trannies haven't had the operation.

What do you mean, early age operation? They walk up to their mom and say, I wanna be a girl? And mom marches them to a clinic? I don't think that happens much.

Are you concerned for a particular reason? Look for an adam's apple.

Ask her if she's ever had a penis. If she says yes, you can be sure that at one time she was once a man.
