they're all around us. all you have to do is rip their shirts off in public. then you'll know.

Absolutely. The universe is just about infinite. To think that this is the only place where life arose is downright absurd. Hell, there are places on our own planet where we thought life couldn't exist, and now we've found it thriving there. Deep sea volcanic vents, the turbines of jet engines, deep under the earth.
I think that life is by nature is always looking for a foothold, and adapts to use it.
If however you are asking whether I think we get visited much by ET's... well that's possible but not likely. Once again it's the size of the universe that informs my answer. Supposing there is life on some world fifty light years from here (and in cosmic terms, that's close). For them to visit here would require that they are either extraordinarily long lived, or develope a way around the limitations of the speed of light. I would imagine if they are smart enough to do this, they and their science would seem nearly magical to us... and I would think they'd be very cautious about being observed.
There's something else to add. I think that for any species to become truly space faring they will have to overcome a certain evolutionary bump in the road. Any species that rises to dominance on a world would probably be somewhat like we are now: caught up in technology that we are not fully prepared to deal with the consequences of. I think of it as an evolutionary test: if the species overcomes the need for war, and learns not to pollute their own planet into unlivablility, then they are ready for the next stage, which is exploring the greater universe.
I hope we make it to that point.

The way evolution goes, I think there have been aliens, there still are lots & there always will be some taking shape in new life forms.
The big question is if we'll ever come across any ever? & would they be intelligent enough to communicate with? To this, I must quote that Intelligence is a rare phenomenon, & we are blessed, if at all its a blessing. With that said, we (humans) are probably just side effects of evolution who are incapable of survival even if there is a slight shift in any physical constant. We have big heads (giving us intelligence), that only adds to trouble more than it actually helps us being intelligent. We live in a perfect world, which is known to have evolved to what it is, & is going to evolve further, eliminating us & probably giving birth to other life forms.
So yes, alien is a sure phenomenon, the question is if we'll ever find them during our existence tenure & if they'll be worth the find.
The crop circles & UFO sightings is all just bullshit!

Yeah, I saw something shaped like a rugby ball surrounded by what I can only describe as a blue shimmering 'force field' flying up near the clouds one night (no, I wasn't on acid, and several people with me saw the same thing). I believed in aliens before that, simply because in an infinate universe the law of probability states that there must be other planets capable of supporting life and that other intelligent lifeforms must have evolved there.

Yes, I think aliens exist on other planets. I am not sure they could have actually gotten here though.
The distances are so vast that if they are here, their technology would be so advanced that if they wanted to remain hidden they could.
I have never had an encounter but would love to know if they are really here.

It would be arrogant to think aliens don't exsist. Why would we be the only ones in the universe.

No encounters but I love to look at websites of crop circles! They are amazing. And to quote a line from a good movie, "If there's no other life in the universe, it seems like an awful big waste of space". (Or someting like that!)

We've got illegal aliens running all over the place picking lettuce and building homes and you have to ask this question? Of course they exist and yes I've encountered lots of 'em. I couldn't understand them though 'cause they all spoke spanish. :-)

"Belief" isn't really the issue.
Does alien life exist -- of course.
Are there alien civilizations -- it's overwhelmingly probable.
Do aliens visit earth -- almost certainly not, and never more than once.
The size and age of the universe make it exceedingly unlikely that two technological civilizations co-exist in reasonable proximity in either time or space.

I believe that there is a good chance for some form of life elsewhere in the universe, just not in UFO's and green bug-eyed creatures with lasers.
