do you realize that without spelling you could not communicate with others except for verbally, hence without spelling you would not have been able to ask this dumb question.

Generally speaking, people with good grammar, spelling, and punctiation are thought to be more intelligent than those who don't possess those skills.

You say "what does it matter?", but socially speaking, it does matter in a lot of ways.

People who can't spell well are judged by the public, ridiculed, and can lose opportunities for success (jobs, etc)

So, while you may not think that spelling really matters, unfortunately, society does not agree with you.

Help your child help himself by being a good speller and using proper grammar. It is the best gift you can give.

If a person can spell properly, then this person can communicate with others better. If people just stop spelling properly, you may as well just throw the language we have worked on out the window.
