I just found out that an old friend on mine has passed away in Pennsylvania. But he passed away in April and I atleast want to read his obit.

Use the web. Look up the name of the town in Pa. first. Then click on "Newspapers" Find the obituaries. Click on "Archives". Click on April and look for your friend's name.

Sorry to hear about the loss.

If you are in the area, I would recommend that you go to the library in the city he lived to read archived newspaper obituaries.

Or, maybe even go online to see if his city has an online edition of newspapers. That may be a place to find it.

Otherwise, I don't think it's proper to have a large bulletin of obituaries throughout certain states or even the US, due to the respect of the deceased.

Here are a few options:
*Contact the funeral home, they usually help the family create the obituary and sometimes keep a copy on file.
*Contact the local newspaper, they can usually send you a copy of the newspaper in which the obituary was published or help you find it in their archives on their website.
