I love Israel and think the Palestinians should head back to Jordan from whence their ancestors came. Many Americans share your views on the war and bush. Count me among them.

there is no such thing as a typical american view on israel or anything else
nearly every view is slightly different and run the entire gamut of possible views
I suspect the most common element of most american views about israel is that "those people have been fighting forever and it seems like they always will be"
AND, if you know nothing about the israeli/palestine issue then you don't know much about the iraqui situation (even if you think you "know a lot"). The israeli problem is inextricably connected to the iraqui problem and the entire middle east problem.
a very little history:
after world war II, the nation of israel was formed (by the allies) out of land that was at the time occupied by people known as palestinians and displaced jews of europe and other places were allowed to go there and start a country
the new country was protected for many years, primarily by the British armed forces
eventually the nation was fully formed and turned over to the israelis, the very day that the new nation was left on its own, most of the surrounding arab nations joined in a military offensive to end the state of israel
israel won that first war and repulsed the invaders
they have been fighting ever since
many palestinians were forced off their land so that israel could be formed as a place for displaced and other jews, naturally they resent this, and many want their old homeland back, and many groups call continuously for the complete irradication of the state of israel
israel had been there a long time now and many of the current leaders were born there and have no other place, they are committed to protecting their homeland, and of course, don't want to be irradicated personally

I believe the "typical" American view on Israel is varied. Most see Israel as having a right to defend itself. While some have no clue as to what is happening there. I don't see how you could know all about Iraq and be anti-Bush and not know anything about Israel and Palestine. I think Europe leaders and media are corrupted.

Israel was attacked by the Arab countries, however, it defeated them. After that, Israel was left with more land that those countries conceded. On this land were over one million refugees. These were the Palestinians. Most Americans don't notice Israel unless its in the news. I believe that we Americans think that the best solution is to give up Gaza and parts of the West Bank and create Palestine, in excahnge for middle east peace.

Do schools in the USA teach history? Is it biased?By answers on questions on Israel it would appear by the quality of answers given that a great many are ignorant of the facts concerning the formation of the country/state of Israel.Obviously views can only be formed on knowledge;many obviously lack this basic.American views are as varied as any other individual in what ever country.I am of the view that Jews are prone to support others of their faith/race;at the same time I am sure as in any section of society there are individuals who do not automatically support Israel even if they are Jews Do not be confused by American foreigner policy;this is based on many diverse factors ,not least the dependence on having an ally in the mid east.

I think the 'typical' American view is 'who cares?' It's only the power brokers and politicians who are interested in protecting Israel's interests. I have a basic knowledge of what they're fighting over, but truthfully, I couldn't care less if they all blew each other off the face of the earth. In fact, the world would probably be a better place if they did.

We feel Israel is doing the right thing and we support their choice to defend themselves. The Israeli's are fighters and not to be fooled with. President Bush is a fair president and knows they are making the right choice also.
I'm American by the way so I stand behind our Commander in Chief and I don't care what your opinion is of him or the war that your obviously not fighting!

Lieberman received't help McCain get a sturdy conservative base. McCain already has the help of independents and moderates and the purely section he desires to strengthen on is help from conservatives. If Romney replaced into his vice president value value ticket, it may quite a lot assure a McCain win in November. Romney replaced into the conservative sought after interior the Republican race till eventually now he dropped out. Lieberman is a reliable guy for sticking up for what he believes in and by no skill taking the BS from the Democrat party, which he replaced into initially a member of.
