Oh there's so many things wrong.

2 soldiers were kidnapped by a guerilla faction of the Hizbollah (a religious political group representing the Shiites and focused with establishing Lebanon as an Islamic state. They currently garner less than 9% of the popular vote and hold few seats in Parliament. With that said, a guerilla group is an independantly run terrorist group that has no direct ties to the Hizbollah sitting in government.)

Now, guerillas snuck across the boarder and kidnapped two soldiers.

Hizbollah parliamentary officials offered to Isreal and opportunity to negotiate a prisoner trade. Isreal denied this and soon afterwards began to bomb civilian centers in Hizbollah run territories.

Here's what's wrong:

2 soldiers kidnapped
Isreal's response? Holding all of Lebanon accountable and killing over 100 civilians.

Now, imagine all the kidnapped soldiers that the US and Canada have suffered through out the years and how we never responded in such irresponsible manners.

You cannot declare a war on a country with which you have recently been living in peace with for years. You cannot hold an entire country accountable for the actions of a few terrorists who are supported by less than 9% of the population. This is not indicative of a mass plot to overthrow anyone. Besides, Isreal knows as well as anyone else, that Hizbollah wants to disrupt peace talks between the Palestinians and the Isrealis. They are trouble makers, I thinks it's disgusting that Isreal is randomly murdering civilians instead of taking the diplomatic high road by working with Lebanon to release the kidnapped soldiers!

You cannot kill people who are neither apart of Hizbollah or the plot to kidnap the soldiers and not be charged for it. And, you cannot say you're doing this bombings because these areas are apparently "hubs" for imported weapons for the Hizbollah. You know what they say about assuming things.

So far over 30 Canadians have been killed.

What does this show? The attacks are not strategic or based on any intent to truly locate or rescue the soldiers. These acts are irresponsible attacks on humanity and lives of the innocent.

This is why Isreal's position is not popular. I am embarressed that Harper is supporting Isreal. Canada must be neutral.

Absolutely repellent, this entire unnecessary affair.

In am soooo blown away at the ignorance on this site.....What if AlQaeda had a base in the Mexican dessert and bombed Dallas , Houston, and Austin Texas after kidnapping 2 American soldiers from within our own border. Some people here are so very ignorant it's astonishing.Your question and additional comments are right on the money...good for you..
As far as holding the Lebanese responsible. The Lebanese government had sanctions placed on them by the UN to disarm EVERY militia in there country. They disarmed every militia in the country except the terrorist organization Hezbollah. Israel has targeted Hezbollah strongholds and innocent civilians were killed . I guess Hezbollah shouldn't use human Shields but the reason they do is to create the rhetoric like the answerer just prior to me. Remember...any country who harbors, aides , or funnels money to terrorists is on the chopping block. So the Lebanese need to either get in the fight or put there head between there knees and kiss there a** goodbye . As do Syria , Iran, North Korea just for starters.

Because the world refuses to except that Isreal is God's choosen people.
And the the whole land belongs to them, as long as this world last the world will be at odds with them.
I personally wish that the U.N. and the U>S would just back off then they would see the hand off God. Let Isreal fight it's own battle. As long as they are not attacting us we should really stay out of it.

Man, listen this is nothing more than an anti-Semitic attitude. We can do this to other countries EXCEPT we try to negotiate and barter with economic benefits for out captors. Israel said kiss my azz, we're going to get our men. The world just wants any reason to hate Israel - God's chosen.

With war there are casualties. Where was the outcry when Israel gave up the West Bank to a people that do NOT accept co-existence for a cease fire AND missiles and suicide bombings continued? You cannot have peace with people that are NOT peaceful. Islam commands that the world be conquered and converted this is why you cannot co-exist with them.

The only reason why Bush is agreeing with them is because he is dong just the same. Take the war to the enemy don't have them bring it to you.

The world thinks that Israel is disproportionatly attacking Hezbollah. However, they fail to realize that Hezbollah has killed 800 Israeli innocents over the past 10 years. If LEbanon forces Hezbollah to turn over the captured soldiers, Israel will stop attacking. However, instead, Lebanon and the rest of the world focus on condemning Israel.

look....i believe isreal has a right to exist. isreal has a right to defend itself. but as horrible as the holocaust was, it doesn't give isreal a blank check to engage in terrorist acts. reaction to the kidnapping of isreali soldiers had to be expected, however, responding my launching missles first is a blantent over-reaction. We should be supportive of Isreal as a whole, but we also have to be willing to condemn Isreal when it misbehaves.

Because 'everyone' believes that it is wrong of Israel to destroy a helpless Lebanon nation to get at Syria- Iran- sponsored Hezbollah. But 'everyone' do not know what's it's like to be the target of daily rocket attacks either. The world may be critical of Israel but it has to do whatever it takes to defend themselves from those seeking to destroy them - Syria, Iran in particular.

I am not mad at Israel either. She is defending herself and her people.

*****Please note, yes, the leader of Hezbollah terrorist organization has a seat in the Lebanese parliament, and yes, he is the one who gives the commands, makes the threats, and has the connections with Iran and Syria. He is calling all the shots of the terrorists. The Democratic Lebanese government are basically scared to speak against him for the fear of assasination.

It is very complicated, but in my opinion it comes from a age old prejudice against Jews and I think only time will end it. A lot of time and raising the world standard of living for all people.
