This is what i know...They dance in the park...also in a restaurant...they are a mix of white kids and black kids...they fix up a crummy apartment...one girl almost gets mugged...they are from chicago or some other small town...any other clues would be very helpful!

One of the most famous dance movies in America. Fame, also was a TV show for a while in the mid 80's. Was filmed using the Alvin Ally Dance Group and took location at the NY school of Dance and Music. Even had a song "Fame", which sold about 1 million copies over the years.
