I am having my bunny, Athena, spayed today and I pick her up at 4pm, what exactly should I do for her? Should I clean her pen several times a day (when she soils her paper) or just once? Should I take the litterbox out- could she hurt herself on it? I placed a sheet over her kennel and have fresh food and water ready. Should I give her a bunch of treat sticks to keep her distracted from chewing her stiches? How often should I check on her?

Ask the VET PLEASE!!! The vet knows your animal best. He/she will tell you what you need to do. You shouldn't rely on people like us (unfortunately) to answer questions like that. The reason being that, not everyone who answers will give you a helpful one, and some might even give you tips that might even hurt your pet. The best thing (the RIGHT thing) to do is to ask the vet when you pick up your bunny. O.K.?

In most cases, a veterinarian will give you a list of things to do, while your animal heals after being altered. The best thing to do, is definitely make sure the cage remains clean (but don't over-do it, because your rabbit will need peace and quiet for the next few days, to recover.) You don't want to get your rabbit hyped up. If you are concerned about her chewin' her stitches out, you can get the v-collar at most pet stores.

The vet should tell you all this, if not ASK. These are good questions and you obviously are a caring "parent".

The vet should tell you what to do when you pick her up. If not then ask your vet.
