i wouldn't chance it myself...my brother who is working on this case says it's not safe for anyone to be walking anywhere between 10p.m and 4 a.m...there's alot of details they're not telling the public (they can't) just be careful and safe.

The Baseline Rapist stayed basically along Baseline Rd. in South Phoenix. It's really not safe in South Phoenix, with or without a rapist on the loose. Although the Phoenix police say he's expanded his territory, the Phx PD have a nasty habit of lumping all unsolved cases and attributing it to the current supect.
The Serial Shooter stays primarily in South Phoenix and in the eastside of Phoenix. It actually looks like 2 different people doing this. Lumped together again? Not sure. This guy strikes in the very early morning hours. Carrying a gun with you won't do any good since he strikes without warning.
You still have a better chance of being struck by lightning.

At this time we have two killers on the loose, so it is not safe to be out on the street at night. Riding the bus during the day should be okay since there are other people around and traffic going by. The killers catch people alone and unaware. Just use common sense and don't put yourself in a vulnerable position.
The serial shooter has shot people from a distance - carrying a concealed weapon would not have helped his victims.
Phoenix is normally a very safe city compared to other large cities, and will continue to be once these criminals are caught.

I'm not afraid to walk around out there. I don't use the bus, though, as I live in an area where the bus route only goes about a mile one way, and two miles the other, and doesn't link up with any other bus that actually goes anywhere you'd want to go. But I'm not bothered to walk my dog in the middle of the night, and I live right by a riverbed where bodies turn up now and then. Never particularly bothered me. Most of the time I have to get up in the night to walk the dog, I'm in such a mood that nobody would want to run into me in a dark area, even a serial criminal with a gun and decent aim.
I don't, however, like to let my teenage sons out at night, to walk the dog, just in case. Even though my boys are old enough to handle themselves, and bigger than I am... not to mention not female so the rapist dude wouldn't be interested. I feel safe traipsing around at all hours of the day and night, no problem. But I just can't stand it when they walk the dog in the night. Go figure.

i work in downtown phoenix at a local hospital AT NIGHT and i still feel safe.
the thing to remember with crime-especially these two cases is that most of the time it's random-so if they're going to target you-they will-no way to stop it. you can however help prevent it by being very aware of your surroundings.
i always walk out to my car with another person or i get security to escort me when i'm at work.
when i'm not at work-i'm indoors by 8pm and i don't leave for any reason other than to meet up with my boyfriend or friends-i never go out after that time alone.
crime can hit you no matter where you live-day or night. you can't stop your life just b/c there are some crazy people out there that have nothing better to do than hurt innocent people. just play it safe-keeping your eyes and ears open and pray that the jerks are caught soon.

Do the serial killers have a history of abductiing people at bus stops, etc.? If so, you can worry somewhat. But what are the chances of YOU being chosen out of the thousands of people who get on the bus every day...statistically it's pretty small. I'd just go about your regular business. But be aware of your surroundings - which you should always do anyway.

I know I've lived in Phoenix all my life and it can be dangerous but it's best to have a car to drive around instead of a bus so that you don't have really worry about getting stolen or anything!

Just remember to always be aware of who is around you at all times. If you have a friend at work who works the same shift, maybe you two ought to ride the bus together, even if it means going out of your way a bit.
