Are you doing it becauseyou have reason to believe the person is doing so, and not because you are insecure and paranoid?
My husband was all about sharing passwords until he started to cheat and do things he shouldn't have been doing; then we both "needed our privacy."
Too bad he had little imagination and I knew all his passwords and found out exactly what his cheating self was up to.

No, but it depends on the relationship. If you are in a marriage, you and your spouse should have each others passwords already (in a marriage there should be nothing to hide).
If it is just boyfriend and girlfriend not living together, then the passwords should be private to each person individually and the other should not expect to know the other person's password.
If it is girlfriend and boyfriend living together, then discussion on sharing passwords should be acceptable, but only if the relationship is stable and some sort of commitment has been made (the last thing a person needs is their girlfriend or boyfriend getting mad and using their accounts to cause trouble).
But no, it is not normal to spy on your love by cracking his/her password-- it is ethically and morally wrong. If they are your love, you should trust them or else not be with them.

I think it's normal to wonder what they're talking about, but not normal to go so far as hack their password and spy.
If there's no trust, there's nothing.

A lot of people have done that, just most won't admit it. I snooped all over my boyfriends computer when we were first dating. I never found anything, but it still never quelled that feeling in my head. So, to answer your question, I think it's ok to do that, but no matter what you find, good, bad, or nothing, will it really make you feel better about it?

I don't think it's normal.
There are trust issues in your relationship if you have to go spying on this person.

No it's not normal. If you love him, you should trust him. If you don't trust him, then you shouldn't be with him.
