Centrino is an Intel base line product. No bell or whistles.
It is the lowest end Intel chip sold for its model design.
Centrino Duo is the dual core base line. A P4 dual core is the higher end model. And Xeon dual core is the highest end model.
Pentium M is a new mobile processor with better battery life. This is a single core so it will be out of date soon. It is still a good CPU.

What is written below is incorrect, i believe they were thinking of the celeron proccessor which is the lowest end chip made by intel. The Pentium M is the Centrino but the Centrino Core Duo is the best CPU for a laptop out right now.

I Dont know what people are saying, but most laptops that have a pentium M Chip, has Centrino. Centrino is NOT a processor. A laptop ONLY has Centrino when it has a combination of a Pentuim M chip, and an Intel 855 chipset, and an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (802.11b/g) network card. Centrino Duo is just a better Technology with a faster Pentium M chip and better wireless and mobile technology

centrino is not a processor itself...
core duo is something like 2 penitum m's in one package (hence dual core)
pentium m was the standard for laptops last year.
so 2 pentium m's vs 1...easy choice?

For its Wi-Fi Capability, Pentium M is the best for Notebooks (in my humble opinion).
However, the new trend for duo-processors is getting bigger and bigger. Obvioulsy, it will soonly be replaced by the two-processors in one single chip for its better performance and longer usabilty for developers and simple users as well.
I bought my DELL Inpiron 9300 with Centrino (Pentium M) and I am very happy with it. I bought it for a processor of 2.0 GB.
