Only real needs could give the answer.
My opinion is a war anyway ends with a winner side and a loser one. Only history could say if this victory came to the more worthy. When Genghis Khan Golden Hoard ruled the world, surely the world had the greatest challenging army never seen, but how much the world earned?
History say Germans were the more challenging in 2ndWW, and their sacrifice was so far higher than other countries. Every German was involved, many cities were bombed and nearly destroyed. Since '43, Germans and Japaneses lost Italian ally. History say allied armies won 2nd WW against and UNO is the highest remain of their greatness.
They focus point isn't how challenging of sacrifice ready is a winner, but which are the new world order plans they achieve.
I'm not sure past generation(s) were greatest than actual is.
I fear history will record as major fault in those years the war against Irak, an attacking war ruled without UNO agreements. Born from UNO builders. There weren't mass destruction weapons in Irak, it was a lie. This could definitively mark our generation as worst than other were.

Greatest generation? The previous generations have done great things but they were mere men just like my generation. No better no worse. Each generation has the same potential whether or not they choose to use that potential wisely is an question to be posed to each individual rather than the generation as a group.

The "greatest generation" was a bunch of dupes who put too much faith in the goodness of their government and believed the lies that the Jews were telling in the press. Greatest generation...ha! Most gullible is more like it.

Of course. Have you talked with the soldiers getting it done in Iraq? These people are amazing. If anything, the skill level and resolve has been kicked up 10 notches.

why do we need another war at all, we are already fighting several wars and creating new enemies day in and out, if you combine all the places we are CREATING WAR this generation is already suffering from the effects of a scale of a world war. we are at places we should not be and our enemies are on out home turf doing what they should not.

sadly, I don't think so. This generation doesn't seem to give a crap. They have no idea what they are blessed with.
