I like both, for different reasons. Marvels superheros are normal people, with extraordinary gifts. They have weaknesses, make mistakes, fall, and get back up. They're very human, and I like that about them.
DC has arch types. Batman is the only "mere mortal" among them. They're super powerful, with hardly any physical weaknesses. Their real weaknesses are their emotions and friends.
So, I like both. In the end, I like the individual Superheros better then whoever puts them out.

I used to be a big Marvel guy, but by 2000 I was burnt out of comics. Since I started buying comics again last August, I prefer DC and other outlets. The DC characters have great history and a cleaner continuity. Marvel has just too much X-Men confusion and what they've allowed Hollywood writers to do to their characters (John Michael Stanczinski on Spider-Man) is just plain horrendous. Marvel always seem to be popular with the younger generation anyway.

DC, because my first comic book was Action Comics 434 (dated May, 1974) and I have been with them ever since.
It's not like I never read books from other companies, because I do. But I'm just not as big of a Marvel Comics fan as I used to be because of all the mistakes they made along the way to alienate me, like bringing back the Spider Clone and some of their X-Men decisions.

I prefer DC over Marvel because I love the characters that are done by different artists & the stories being written by differnt writers. I like the fresh concept of new stories being told in a different view & DC captures that with al intent.

DC Because they have cooler characters and make better use of they're entire history. And the stories seem to be more user friendly.
Marvel is basically just the X-Men and Spider-Man (who is cool; X-Men is way too convoluted for a newcomer to get into.....and that was in the 80s when I tried reading them).

I prefer Marvel comics, because the Marvel-universe is more realistic. Marvel characters have REAL problems(like worrying about paying bills).
