It's a piece of crap! Never get an Ion, it doesn't matter how good you take care of them, they always mess up. I hate to see people spend $200 on a gun that messes up in a week, if I we're you, I would look into some of the WGP markers with e-blades (you can get them on e-bay for about $350-$400 but they last forever and they're great for speed-ball.

If you want it for serious tournament play, yes. It's a good gun for the price. You may want to look at upgrading it later, but it's not bad to start with.

If you just want it to fool around with or play with friends, forget traditional paintball guns and look into airsoft guns. These are 1:1 scale models of actual military firearms that fire a 6mm plastic round (available as 6mm paintballs). Well-made airsoft guns are MUCH cheaper than professional paintball guns and perform just as well. Many have selectable fire rates, autofire, battery-powered motors (no need for CO2), etc. They're a ton of fun and pretty inexpensive.
