Usually, you put your return address on the upper left corner (on the same side of the envelope where you've put the regular address).

An alternative is to place it on the opposite side of the envelope on the upper flap. This is more often done for fancier letters (e.g. wedding invitations).

It goes in 1 of 2 places: (a) The upper left corner of the envelope (non flap side), or (b) The back of the envelope on the flap itself.

FYI, most people use (a).

1. USA: sender's name in upper left corner; the person to whom being sent in lower right hand middle.
2. China: the person to whom sending in the upper left hand corner; the sender's name on the lower right hand corner (opposite of US).
