I think we usually are careless to remember them because when something is important to us we usually remember. But of course it is human to forget things. The worst thing to forget is your baby in a car. Please don't ever let this happen to your baby or anyone else's.

There's short term memory and long term memory.
To change something from short term memory, the individual has to have a reason or need to recall it. For example, unless you were rearended, you don't need to know what color the car was at behind you the stop sign yesterday, so it doesn't make the shift from short to long term memory.
