It really depends on the user. Some like tomatoes, some like potatoes. It depends on if you like the features Firefox gives you since it's not very user friendly, but people who like it has used it for a long time and got used to the browser.

They take up less memory than I.E, but if you use it for some time, you might actually like it better. I use IE and Firefox evenly. I use it for different purposes. Instead of opening a new window for everytime you want to open a new browser, you can use the "tabbing" feature to open the window in the same browser. You can just TAB to the different pages instead of opening 10 or more browsers through IE.

However, the new IE 7.0 also came up with the new tabbing feature.

Firefox is not more secure than IE. They have BOTH the same security. People who say firefox has more security are the ones that have read articles from non-MIcrosoft users. They both have the same 128bit security.

Read this article about FireFox/Mozilla vs IE.
http://news.com.com/Symantec+Mozilla+browsers+more+vulnerable+than+IE/2100-1002_3-5873273.html

There is no proof or research that will show that one is more secure than the other. They are both vulnerable to attacks.

I use Firefox and IE interchangeably because Firefox is anal with javascript. IE isnt. There are a few sites that wont work too well with javascript and some links dont work as a result. Thats when IE comes in handy.

Reasons for why I consider Firefox the best browser:
1. You can add extensions to it (depending on what do you want the browser to do for you)
2. Same thing for themes
3. It offers great support for web developers
4. It's more secure then any other browsers
5. It loads pages faster then IE (in general..)
Before reaching a conclusion work with it for some time, and if you still don't like return to IE! If many people use the same thing, considering it's the best, it doesn't mean it really is the best!
One thing I dislike at Firefox is that it consumes a lot of memory! (and if you add extensions to it, the more the better :)) ).

There are a couple of advantages for Firefox.

1. It is very small compared to explorer therfore it dosen't use much system resources.

2. It is more secure compared to explorer.

3. It is not Microsoft. Many don't have good thoughts for microsoft anymore.

4. First to use tabs for windows. IE didn't come out with tabs until recently.

5. Apperance. many favor the apperance of the browser.

6. It's open source: You can modify the source code to your needs.

It's great because everything is customizable, if something is not working for you it is beause you don't have the script installed correctly- which is easy to fix... also the extensions ans scripts are amazing, such as a built in calendar, skins (can change the color and look of FF to look like anything you want ( https://addons.mozilla.org/themes.php?app=firefox)...a spellchecker, quick links, you can edit pages right there.. you should download some of extensions here https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/extensions/

The best thing is that there are a ton of less spyware and viruses

IE, Netscape etc just can't compete with the amount that you can change and add to it

Firefox works beautifully for me. I don't have any issues with the appearance, but I think that's probably customizable anyway.

Firefox is a lot more secure than Internet Explorer; most nefarious 'hackers' target susceptibilities in Explorer, since more people use it. And I barely get a single pop-up window in Firefox. In Explorer I get them all the time, unless I want to make the effort of installing a special pop-up blocker.

Plus, Firefox is cool. :P

It has tabbed browsing.

That is the only good thing about it. Now that it's use has expanded we find it no more secure then IE, it doesn't support Active X so many web pages do not render properly, and as you say it simply isn't that great.

I dumped it and went back to IE

Ok, if you don't think firefox is great, you've already got someone who's told you that it's smaller, more secure and has better functions than IE; .. so, why don't you try Opera with voice?

It has all these advantages plus it has the capacity to read your mail for you! How's that?

Try it out from http://opera.com

It's a fully functional web browser, that is open source. That is, it is not sold or maintained by a company (such as microsoft) that might have their own agenda or priorities, but rather it is written and improved by volunteers all over the world.

like Internet Explorer, FireFox is another Browser.

is better than many others because it uses a lot less computer resources, you can install many themes, custom mods, add new buttons and so on.

and is free :) and it works well on many systems.

good day

Explorer is a virus magnet, and very unstable. Firefox is less buggy, and there aren't anywhere near as many holes to exploit.
