currently, imo, xbox and xbox 360 are much better than ps2, which is outdated right now. With the release of ps3 later this year xbox will be worse. if u can wait then do it. ps3 with be amazing, with blu-ray discs reading. for those of u who dont know blu-ray, it is the new form of ultra HD video and gaming, the discs can hold up to 50x a normal dvd and all in high def.

A later generation PS2 is a very solid, quiet, and small console that has some great games. The only game I hear people raving about on XBox is Halo, I don't own an XBox so I only go by what I see and hear, but looking at their respective 2nd-hand prices it's clear that the PS2 is still the most in demand (the 2nd-hand price is virtually the same as new ones!)
I think like the PS1, the PS2 will be around for a long time to come so shops should keep stocking games longer.

No way does an Xbox have more games than a PS2. That said, an xbox has better graphics, and is more powerful, it is also much noisier and very much larger. The PS2 is much cheaper, graphics are still very good, and it is much smaller. The other advantage with the PS2, as long as you buy the slimline one, is that you can play online y simply registerring and using a router. Another advantage of the PS2 is that you can play DVD's without having to by a DVD controller. I had both, Halo on the Xbox was the best game ever, but overall, the PS2 was my preferred choice.

I personally think the Xbox (and now Xbox 360) is much better than the PS2, and before anyone goes on about my hummble opinion here, I do have all three consoles.

However the main reason that Xbox is better than PS2 is the live play. I know PS2 tried to introduce this, and had a limited succes, but it was never the internet based community that is Xbox Live.

Now demographics, I think that the dempgraphics that these consoles are aimed at works quite well. At present PS2 are prodominantly aimed at the teenage gamer, whereas the Xbox demographic sees it aimed squarely at the slightly older 20 something gamer. I am not saying that this will alwats be the case, it is just that that is how it appears to me at the moment.

Both of them are good in their own, way although i must say, that an x box has more games to play than a PS2, though some of the games that a PS2 has are better than those of the X BOX

I prefer the PS2. I got one of the early xbox's (ya know, that they rushed to put out on the market) and it overheated, caught fire and needed to be replaced in the 1st year, had a couple of different recalls. The power cord has been recalled for safety reasons also. In general, I like the PS2 games, controllers and graphics better than xbox.

It all depends on what you're looking for. If you want a huge library of different games, go for the ps2. If you want amazing graphics,(and Halo2) go for X-Box.
