Always moisturize your hands after washing, and try to avoid hash soaps.

Use plenty of cuticle oil daily and you should really notice an improvement. The best nail and cuticle oil will contain Jojoba oil and Vitamin E as two of the main ingredients.

Nail polish contains solvent that allow it to dry and give nails it's inherrant 'shine' and toughness. These same solvents can be very drying to nails, and can actually contribute to the problem.

Also avoid having your hands in water for long periods of time (so use gloves when doing the dishes).

I've also heard very nice things about Nailtique, so you should also benefit from that too.

If you can get past the strong garlic odor, it's definitely worth using garlic oil... you could get from the Vitamin World store... It comes in a capsule form, like Vitamin E does, so the capsule has to be broken... I use it about 3 times a week. Just break open about 4 capsules, massage into nail and cuticle and put in a pair of latex gloves for about 20-30 min. just wash hands with soap and water, the smell does wash away.... hope you have as much luck with this as I have had

Good Luck

I have the same problem. You need to use a buffer and file the tops and I use cuticle oil so they don't look so dry. If you use a nailpolish use one with strength formula perfirbly sally hansen...and manicures arent that great for them either, it will leave ur nails a yellow tint. Also, your diet plays a role in ur nails 2! omega 3s like fish and nuts are good for nails and will make them stronger and healthier.. as well as ur hair

Mine used to break and chip all the time, but there's this nail polish, NailTek... it's a base coat and top coat that you use when you paint your nails. It's amazing. A little pricey but it's totally worth it. I don't know about all the "jello" stuff, but I love this stuff... all my friends swear by it.
