OK I have a satelite internet and I have vonage which both work great. now my question is I am trying to fax from my fax console which I installed from windows at the control panel/printers and other hardware/printers and faxes. I set it up and try to fax and i get the message 1. Dialing 1 XXX XXX XXXX - 2. No dial tone the phone line in use or not connected - 3. The attempt to send the fax failed.

Please Help Me...
Thanks.

You have to have your fax modem connected to the phone line. It must be connected via a filter though.

First check to see if you have a regular modem (most do). Then make sure that you have a land line plugged into the correct port on the modem - you have 2 so that you can connect a telephone as well since it is a pass-though. Using the fax software in Windows has been problematic at times. I have had good success with using Quick-link and Winfax (I prefer Winfax). I even used Quick-link for Win3.1 on a Win2k system with no problem.

FYI: I have the millenium software and it came bundled with the Quicklink III sofware from microsoft. Tried and tried to get it to send a fax and finally called HP and said what's up? Tech told me that Microsoft did not have its own working fax sofware and they had used Quicklink 3 as an attempt to add faxing capabilities to their software.........problem is, it doesnt work with windows code. Kind of a "major" malfunction. HP tech recommended I stick with my regular fax machine and bail on the microsoft fax idea until such time as they get it to work. Probably still good advice.
Good luck.

maybe you are recieving a weak signal at the moment. try disconeccting the modem from the computer for about ten seconds than plug it back in and restart your windows.
