It really depends on your needs a blackberry can do all the things a PDA can and then some but you have to pay for the extras. A blackberry can view word and ecel documents out of the box but to edit them you have to purchase the software which is about $50. The blackberry 7290, and 8700 can take a beating I have literally thrown mine at the wall to show the customer the durability of them the only thing that happened was the back came off. It can also sync with your PC either through USB or wirelessly if your company has the server and software. It syncs with outlook (calender, cantacts and tasks). The biggest kudos I get for blackberry is that is very easy to learn, where palm and other PDA's are pretty indepth to set up. If you look at a Palm user manual it will show you what you should learn in weeks not hours. Also the blackberry is what is called a government phone which means if you have a security code active on your phone and it is enterd incorrectly 10 time the device will wipe it's memory and it is unrecoverable. they are both very good devices I just lean to blackberry because of the overall it is more durable and easy to learn. The downside to blackberry is you have to pay a monthly rate for the push service (email).
