Your computer DOES NOT have a dvd burner. The term DVD-ROM = Read Only Memory. This clears up the fact that you cannot burn DVD's with it. You DO have a cd burner though.

DVD-Rom means that you can play but not write to DVDs.
DVD-RW means that you can both play and write to DVDs.
CD-Rom mean that you can play CDs.
CD-RW means that you can both play and write to CDs.

If the blank media you purchase says+/-RW then you can erase and write over it many times. If it says -R, then you can only write to it one time.

According to that manual, for you your player's capability is to play DVDs but not burn them. You can burn and play CDs.

From the instructions, It doesn't look like it has a DVD burner. Otherwise it would say something like DVD+R/DVD-RW.
If you need one, you can buy an external one and connect to your system, or have it installed by a technician.
