Get a great big "M" on one buttcheek, and another "M" on the other buttcheek, so that when you bend over, it spells "MoM". Or when you lie on your back, with your feet hoisted high, it will spell "WoW". Either of these would give pause for reflection.

If you need to ask what, I would recommend not to do it for now. It should be something original that you come up with.
Something that you believe in and wont get tired of.
Always something neutral, don't commit the mistake to get a tattoo that will remind you of a person in particular. (I committed that mistake when I was 23).
With neutral I mean something like a koy fish, or a symbol for luck, happiness, ...what ever is and WILL be important for you.
And I also recommend (for your first tattoo), place it somewhere where you can not see it all the time (like wrists), you might get tired of seing it. Shoulders are an OK spot, or ankles...
I love tattoos, I only have one and I will definitely get more. But I have been waiting for years to decide what. It is easier than you think to regret a tattoo.
Any way, when you get to the tattoo shop, they have a lot of samples you can choose from and you can tell them to modify it to make it more personal.
My advice is to go to the tattoo shop first, and check it out....

I have 2 tattoos and I am 25 y/o. I have one on my lower back which I love and I have one on my ankle which I hate! I would def recommend getting it in a place that will not be visible all the time - so you can show it when you want it to be seen, but covered when it needs to be covered! The one on my ankle aggravates me because I see it everyday! I would get it in a place that you could not see all the time because you will get tired of looking at it! I've only had mine for about 2 years and I wanted it gone about 2 months after I got it! So please think this through before you do it! And if you are getting one choose something that means something to you - just dont go in and get anything! Good luck!

I have always thought about getting a tattoo, but what comes back to me is where I am placing the tattoo and what picture I should get. I have found that place on my body where I would like it but I have yet to find something I will enjoy the rest of my life. Don't go off of any one of what you should get. You will probably hate it in five years and there is nothing you can do. My suggestion is go tatoo shopping. Go to as many palors as you can in your area and find out what style and what colors as well as the pictures you like. I have been looking for 6 years now. Call me picky but I don't want to regret anything.

Get something that is meaningful to you. Find an artist that can be trusted. Don't get a tattoo you've seen on somebody else. You want to be original or you are defeating the purpose of the tattoo. Don't show up to the parlor drunk or they will not serve you. Have your Hep shots up to date. Take a trusted friend or family member. Talking to someone during the inking keeps you from wiggling or screaming. Yes it hurts.

Plan it ahead of time. Visit several tattoo shops if you can and find an artist that you can talk to and whose work you like. If you just walk in and get a flash tat, you may not like it later on. But if you work with an artist and design something that has meaning to you, then you're more likely to be happy with it.

Try different temporary tattoos to get people's reaction. Then be smart and skip the tattoo to work on being beautiful inside instead.
Good luck!

You don't even know what you want, yet you are willing to permanently mark your body with it? Talk about mindless chasing of trends.
TECHX69 says get something you will still like when you are 30 or 40. I can 99% guarantee that no matter how sure you are that you know what you will like at those ages, you don't.

I have a dream tattoo and that is either a butterfly on the back of neck or a small dragon, horse, scorpion, or arabic or chinese character(s) on the lower backside of your back on the left or right.
But, for less pain, it is better to chose those areas than more of fleshy and sensitive parts such as the arms.
