Good to know that you want to enjoy the traditional dresses of India in local shades and colours.

For a Punjabi wedding, what if you wear a Bengali outfit?! Most of them would be wearing Punjabi dresses, you can also try one Punjabi outfit for one of the ceremonies, but try Bengali outfit (Dhoti - Kurta, simple and very comfortable) at the main function.

Have an enjoyable time.

I'm Punjabi and most Punjabi men in my family would wear normal western clothes at a Sikh wedding. The only men that would wear traditional clothing would be the ones involved in the wedding. But then again, the men in my family are very no nonsense types.

Wear a plain sherwani, its a knee length full sleeve garment with bottons near the top.itcomes along with the salwar also.Wear dupatta but throw it around yoor neck and make a loop or you'll look like a woman!also, wear kolhapuris they are trditional footwear which are pointed toward the front and go very well with sherwani. But simple ones they are better.or you'll look better than the groom!also they may cost anywhwere from Rs.1500-3500.But you'll have an indian garment.Don't focus on the punjabi thing, this costume will work in any wedding in any part of india.it looks like this-

If it's something you would wear to both, go for it. It sounds like there will be some similarities to the tradition Indian wedding. That means there's going to be balance with both traditions.

I would like to receive my guests in the best dress of their own country rather than seeing them uneasy in our traditional dress. We will not consider it a surprise if one dresses up like us; rather everyone will be surprised and pleased to have a well dressed 'distinguished' guest among us.

So go for the best dress of your country that you can afford.
