It is pretty mature, with a lot of coarse language, nudity, and stuff. I saw it, but I was so tired, I sort of slept through some of it. What I did see was good. But it's very mature subject matter. It's rated R for good reason.

The film is based on Philip K Dick's excellent science fiction novel of the same name. It is a disturbing, dark and very funny book and from the clips I have seen of the film it looks like it is very faithful to the text.
I'm not sure why your parents would not want you to see it but if you are under-age they might not like you watching it because of the subject matter. The scary, distopian world feels like a drug addict's nightmare trip. There are drugs everywhere and none of the users seems to be very stable. The book certainly doesn't glorify drug taking, I would think in fact it would dissuade some people from ever trying hard drugs, but maybe your family don't want you exposed to this at all.

Based off a grafic novel about a cop who gets hooked on the drug he's trying to protect the public from. It is supposed to be very addictive and dangerous. Rated R for subject and such so it is your parents way of protecting you.

I liked it a lot. There is lots of drug use by slackers. It's not suitable for kids really. Visually it's beautiful.
