My ex-boyfriend keeps letting the air out of my car's tires. How does he do this, and how can I stop him from doing it? I don't have enough money for a car alarm, and my car is almost 20 years old anyway, so it's not worth installing one.

The best bet is to either catch him in the act and call the police (you might be able to call them without them seeing him do it if you have a witness see him do it- it could be considered stalking, or at the least harassment). Your other options are to park the car in a locked garage, or where he can't easily find it. There is no lock that I know of for valve stems, and the person who said fill them with water doesn't know how hard that would be, nor how much more of a problem that would be if you could. How he does this is really easy- all he needs is a valve stem remover, available at any parts store, and just loosen that little thing in the middle of the valve (it's threaded like a screw). He is either loosening your valve stem valve ( the little thing in the center of your valve stem, it can be unscrewed with a special tool, tool is inexpensive) and re-tightening it or just sitting there and letting the air out (which takes a long time)
Only way to prevent it is to park in a garage or a fenced yard preferably with a BIG DOG.
Let police know and try to park under a street light other suggestion not available.
If in Apartments let management know

I didn't know there was such a thing until I searched it! Valve cap locks, unbelievable. Of course whats to stop him from letting the air out with a knife?

YOU CAN'T STOP IT, AN ALARM PROBABLY WOULDN'T EVEN GO OFF. CALL THE COPS, OR AMBUSH HIM WITH A GUN OR VIDEO CAMERA.
