You mean effects like being bored rigid for what seemed like half my life watching average actors spout cheesy dialogue while being overwhelmed by excessive computer graphics with a plot that got more ridiculous as my backside got more uncomfortable?
Yea, happens all the time.
Climate change is real. That film was rubbish.

Like all films, that was a fiction story with small basis in fact. It is possible that some of those things could happen, but certainly not in time frame of the movie, and probably not as they were portrayed. Movies are usually fictionalized, even when based either on fact or on current scientific theories.

While the basic science of the film was right, the time frame was all wrong. These things may happen in the future but certainly not as fast as the movie portrayed. It would happen gradually.

maybe not quite as quickly as they happened in the movie but I really think we are slowly getting there. I know I live in NH and we have had 2 tornadoes this year already and we are not a state that gets them. Also our winter was so hot and cold and snowy and then dry I'm waiting to see what is going to happen next. Snow in june is starting to look like a possibility.

While massive climate change is possible when the ice caps melt, it's unlikely that the effects will take place over such a short period.

if global warming continues to worsen at the rate it has been over the past years, then yes. it could happen in your lifetime.
