well if we are talking about people in the U.S. the government thinks that a woman should get everything a man owns simply because women were oppressed in previous generations and if they dont give them this money then they will all sit around on their butts and live off of welfare and foodstamps (which they will) guys the only way we are ever going to get a fair shot is to get advocates into the government that will lobby for protection of our rights................GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND STOP TAKING THIS ABUSE.........

People are selfish...that's why. I think divorced couples should have to be transparent with all of their spending from child support, show receipts and the like. My father-in-law lives like a pauper (Popper?) Perhaps if there is accountability with the monies...maybe arrangements should be made with the exwife in question so that this bitterness can be absolved.
Women often spend to medicate their own depression, which is probably caused by the miscommunication in their marriage in the first place.
Now...to go burn those pictures and change my name... :) to the b/tch

This is because the Law Courts see the women as being 'the mother'. It's unfortunately a stereotypical circumstance. The mother is seen as the person who raises the children properly, and bakes the bread daily! She cleans the house, mops the floors and in general, has the ability to keep the kids out of trouble!
It's about the society in which we live and this mind set has stemmed back to the early ages. sad, but true.

You are forgetting the "Deadbeat Dads" who helped bring the children into the world but now give nothing at all for their upkeep. There are plenty of women who get no support at all and wind up working several jobs while trying to raise their children. Yes, there are some men who appear to be "taken," but that is NOT always the case. It's not a good situation for either side, and you need to understand that.

I don't know where you live, but 70% of net income is unreasonable.
How about us women who's children's fathers don't pay anything? We fight and fight but have to live like paupers with children.
Child support is for the wellbeing of the children. Some of that money can go towards rent, utilities, groceries, clothing, and other things that benefit the children.

"... when they divorce a woman with children..." Are they not his children too?
I agree to a certain point, I have seen many men do without while their ex-wife lives it up.
But he needs to provide for his kids. Unfortunately, not all circumstances are the same for each situation.
I believe that a non-custodial parent (man or woman) should put the support payments in a trust fund for when the child is 18.
The system is far from perfect.

b/c our societies and many around the world are patriarchal therefore men are the bread winners in the home and must take care of their children monetarily and in some occasions there ex wives if they make enough money. Of course that may not be far in many cases but social injustices are very common, haven't you noticed yet...what do you think about men getting a dollar to every .80 cents a women earns in the same job, ha ha ha ha lets not go there sweetie!!!!

because you are the father and you need to take care of your kids.Even though it dosent give her the right to live off your dime either.I think she also needs to take some responsibility and be a mom and help take care of her kids as well. And by the way how do you know what she is doing with the child support you know there is rent, utilitys, clothes, food that does fall under suporting your kids.

Sometimes it is for the kids. You can't make a general statement like that. Not everyone is in it for the money. I've been getting $125 per month for my daughter who is now 15. I pay everything for her! He only pays $125.00 per month. What can that pay for? That doesn't even take care of her food for a month!! Tell me now am I sitting here eating f'en Bon bons on my ex? I could have taken alot more of his money but its not like that for me. It wasn't worth the damn fight and its not worth my life. That's what would have happened if I would have gotten more of his money. So, next time you want to make such a general statement, think first!!

Good question.
This inequality has been around for a long time. I have no idea why or where it started but it is certainly unfair. I would love to see it end...
It probably started with a woman judge somewhere! LOL!
