There is a muffler and tail pipe repair tape at Auto Parts Stores.
Clean the area around the crack with a wire brush and sand paper. Then wipe the fresh metal area with alcolhol and let dry.
Start the car and let the muffler get hot and then apply the tape. The package has all the instructions.
I've used this tape to repair mufflers and tail pipes. One muffler I used it on lasted an additional 3 years before replacing.

There is a pasty kind of metal compound that you can get at any auto supply store for a couple of dollars for tiny cracks or pinholes in mufflers & tailpipes. I can't remember the exact name brand, but I am sure there are several kinds. Anyone working at the place will know exactly what I mean.

I saw Muffler tape, that will work sometimes.
I have used the clay epoxy, it is a strip of flat clay- like epoxy that is two colors. You tear off a piece and knead it together until it is evenly the same color. work it into and around the crack and let it cure. The stuff dries like a rock and doesn't burn off.
if the tape don't do it this stuff will.
in the Auto parts stores.
here is what the stuff looks like. but it is made by others as well.

There are muffler repair kits available at most car stores, you get the exhaust pipe hot, then place this putty on it and mesh to hold it on.... then like a metal band. Not sure how well it works, I bought some and never used it, the exhaust pipe wasn't my problem lol.

Check with your friends and see if anyone knows how to weld it. This is a temporary fix, but will work OK for a while if the crack is small enough.
