I spent a nice chunk of my childhood in Belgium, my father was stationed at Chevires AFB, right outside of the NATO headquarters. Well, I truthfully will admit I was a bit stunned by the apparrent "lack of hygeine", BUT, I assume it's just their culture? You eventually get used to the smell of hairy, uncleansed women and burly hairy men. Spend 4 years there, and it will be nothing. LOL!!

That is false. People have that misconcetion because during the war, water and the fuel to heat it were very scarce and so in europe they would wash basically in a wash bin with wash cloth and not take a full tub bath or shower.
I lived there for 6 years and never encountered anyone that was inherently dirty. In fact, they are very clean, airing out their bed linens and homes on a daily basis.

My family is European (Dad's side of the family). I think this issue is more prevalent with the older generation. My Dad doesn't smell but I have a few older aunts/uncles that are RIPE! Worse (for me) is the women with hairy legs/armpits but that is also culture. Besides - anyone remember Madonna's decision not to shave her pits for a photo shoot? Yuck!

Actually, they normally like to shower and bathe more than YOU could ever do!! (Not that I'd like to GENERALISE or anything...!)
IF you keep getting a nasty whiff up your snoz whenever you're standing next to a European, don't worry!! It's probably only coming from your mouth...!!!

Americans are pretty much the only ppl who critize others for so called lack of hygiene.
Some ppl have a disorder called "TMAU". So the next someone smells a little off they may have this dreaded condition.
