If a person is convicted of a felony, does it ever stop showing up on their record when an employer does a background check? A felony conviction of sodomy will stay on someone's record for how long?

Forever, unless you can take some action to change it: some states allow felony convictions to be sealed after so many years without criminal charges; you can ask the governor for a pardon.

Most employers will ask if you have any felonies in the last 5 years. Also, after 5 years, you can petition the court to expunge your records, which means the felony will be taken off your history. You must have a clean record for those 5 years, however! Also, certain drug convictions, like possession of cocaine over 55 grams come with lifetime probation, meaning your record will never be cleared.

Some states have different rules about that sort of thing. Often times a plea-bargain will give you a way to get the conviction off of your record. Also, if the law changes so that what you did is no longer illegal (and sodomy laws change a lot) you can get it off your record.

As long as records are kept, it will be there. Even beyond Death.
Well that is for us po folk, I am sure if you have the $$$ in a large amount, something could get deleted, erased, or forgotten.
Capitolism, it is a grand ideal.

A felony is different from a misdemeanor, it sticks around to haunt you forever.

FOREVER, sorry.

I might add that if it is a sodomy conviction than I hope people do not judge you by that because that is just a form of sex that people choose to do unless it is rape or rape of a child.

Pleas do not tell me you have done that to children.
