Hello,
Do any of you work for the government? If so, what do you do and do you enjoy it? If you get into the IRS for example, can you move across organizations?

Joey is right. Plus, depending on how long you've been employed with the federal govt, a status employee (has at least 3 years of continuous federal service) and does not have to compete with outsiders when you apply to jobs at other agencies.

To answer your question, I don't really enjoy what I'm doing now, but that's life. Anyway, I'm looking for something new. Wish me luck.

You can move to a different organization in the Federal Government and your retirement will move with you. You still have to apply to each position as if you were coming off the street. It's just that if you get hired you have to do a transfer instead of an initial hiring.

If I tell you I'd have to kill you.
