I don't think they have gone away!!! I am good friends with a budding sociopath!!
However, science prevents the repetition of crime and we may not see the results!! We also only know the information we are exposed to!! So much happens around us that we are completely unaware of and most of the truth we do know is fabricated!!
Don't get too comfortable sleeping with your doors unlocked just yet!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in yesterdays paper I was reading about 2 separate serial killers in 2 different states that are actively killing people. Sorry to say I ccan't remember what states though.

The FBI surmises that there's about a dozen or serial killers on the loose in America at any given time.

They are out there killing people freely for in the future when they get tired of it, because the police can't never cached them unless they intentionally leave some clue to get found, they come up to tell very proudly for how long and how many they killed.

They've gotten smarter. You only hear about them if they establish a pattern or get caught. Make sure to lock your doors.
