we just replaced ours with a darker color, it seems to get warmer quicker than the old but we have had pretty warm nights. the only downfall to ours when you vacuum the bottom it's harder to see what you missed.
and it is much more handsome looking than the light blue

RE:
If dark colors attract heat, would a darker pool liner heat the pool faster?
I have a light blue pool liner that needs replaced. I was wondering if the darker blue liner I get, the faster it will heat the pool. Hope this makes sense!

A dark colored pool bottom helps absorb the sun’s heat and can raise the pool temperature several degrees. Unfortunately as mentioned by others there is an appearance question, along with decreased visibility of foreign objects on the bottom (your kid will be harder to spot if he's drowned and laying on the bottom). Another option is a passive solar heater which works on the same principal. Basically its a series of small black plastic capillary tubes that the return water is pumped through before re-entering the pool (www.solarheaterspool.com has good links to companies that provide these heaters). You should be eligible for a tax credit or other incentives if you install one.
Hope this helps

Yes, it will probably warm up faster. Darker colors do not attract heat but they do absorb heat radiation more easily than light colors. Trade off faster heating for appearance. You may not be able to notice the difference, however, as the difference in time to bring the water temperature up will be minuscule and may not be noticeable.

It will heat it faster and will also heat it longer if left on --darker colors absorb and retain heat.

Yes, but as others said, it might feel odd.
What I suggest is choose a medium color, or large tile pattern with light and dark.
Also, you can float black plastic on the water when the pool is not in use, and it'll act as a warmer. Just use plain black garbage bags.

Light and bright colors reflect the sun, causing it to be cooler, dark colors absorb the suns rays. Try using some of those reflector Shields people put in their windows.

Maybe, it is worth a try isn't it? Though it may take away the beauty of the clear sparkling water.
