Israel insists that the Palestinians unilaterally:
1) recognize the right of the state of Israel to exist (without its pre-1967 borders, though, because Israel claims or has even annexed some of the occupied territories) - AND WITHOUT THE ISRAELIS AT THE SAME TIME HAVING TO RECOGNIZE THE EXISTENCE OF "PALESTINIANS", OR THE RIGHT OF A PALESTINIAN STATE TO EXIST;
2) permanently and completely to renounce terrorism or violence - WITHOUT ISRAEL EVER HAVING TO STOP KILLING PALESTINIANS WITH TARGETTED STRIKES.

In short, Israel wants to get EVERYTHING IT WANTS for free, as a "pre-requisite for talks". But if Israel receives all it really wants from the Palestinians and neighbours for free, what's left to talk about? What would be Israel's incentive to leave all occupied territories (INCLUDING EAST JERUSALEM)?
