you should let us know how old he is
maybe take him out to go somewhere that he loves to go
have a surprize party for him in a couple days, this way
he won't expect it

Send ecard if he's far away. Create a powerpoint presentation with happy birthday song and present it to him, get something he craves for as long as its within your budget. Do something that will make his day a memorable one as long as it doesn't harm anyone.
