Are you supposed to use them before or after you put the mascara on?

You should use it before you put on mascara for best results. If you use it after you put on the mascara it not only gives your lashes an unnatural bended look and damage your eyelashes, it is unsanitary as you can never get all of the mascara off of the curler, and it can lead to eye infections.
There is a site below that recommends using a metal curler and zapping it blow dryer for no more than five seconds to give your lashed that extra bit of curl before you add the mascara and it will give them an extra "oomph" without making them look fake.

You need to use your eyelash curler before applying mascara - trust me I've expereinced this! One time I used it after applying my mascara and it made my eyelashes stick together and look very clumpy ! It looked like i had 3 big eyelashes on my upper lash line because they all stuck together! I would def reccommend curling your lashes before. Good Luck with this! and make sure you clean your curler often so you will not get eye infections from the bacteria growing on the curler!

personally I dont use them but u are suppose to use them before applying ur mascara or else ur eyelash can get stuck together or even get stuck on the curler causing ur eye lashes to be damage.. by the way I think you should try lancome mascara

Before, but you could also use it after your mascara has dried to gives your eyelashes a little bit more of a lift.

Use BEFORE. If you use after putting on mascara your eyelashes could break.

I have found that when you are applying mascara if you hold the brush at the ends of your lashes for a second or two when you brush the mascara up, it makes your lashes stand up more. Try it.

I love my eyelash curler.I have really long lashes and i find that curling your lashes before you put mascara on them is best because if you put it on after you'll pull you lashes out

before if your gonna wear mascara...if you have long lashes just use the curler and you dont have to wear mascara.

Before, but I usually do it after eyeshadow and on top of dry liner. If you try to do shadow or liner afterwards it can mess up the curls and you have to do it again.
