Yes. Its very bad we mix the imperial system and the metric system all the time.
Often with disasterous results, Like the probe that smacked into the side of mars because we didnt convert miles to kilometers.

in science they use metric system. So when I studied Physics in the USA (I am originally from Armenia, and was studying in the US as an exchange student) they had to learn the metric system...
so it is a little bit problematic for them to study two systems... but no solution is still possible (general people are not ready not to use the existing system, for scientists it is almost impossible without metric system - 1. international cooperation, 2. most of formulas are written for metric system, so a lot will / should be changed)

In higher level sciences I always used the metric system. It just makes more sense to do it that way. However, when students are younger, they learn about both. My 4th graders do get confused since they have to learn all sorts of different units for the same type of measurement. It's crazy.

Yes we are taught traditional units of measure and generally we do not use the metric system except in the medical field {which I'm in}and it is truly a pain to have to deal with different units of measure I wish we could all be on the same page.

No metrics for them.
They study the metric measurements, but... I was flabbergasted once in a chemistry class one student proved on the board that one liter is equal to 10 (TEN!) cubic decimeters. And the teacher did not correct him...
