it's not bee-york/b-york as the others have said, because the umlaut over the o softens the vowel. So the guy that mentioned the vomiting sound is pretty much right.

I don't know about the surname but I believe that Bjork is pronounce 'be-yerk' (not 'be-york' like the spelling might imply).
