this is a pretty general question. There are far too many types of vulnerabilities in computers. Asking about the types of vulnerabilities for a computer is kind of like asking what types of methods can you use for getting through a door...lets see, you could just open the door if there isn't a lock, you could break off a lock and then get in, you could take the door off it's hinges, you could explode the inside of the lock, you could use a key, you could pick it...catch my drift?

Windows is a whole big vulnerabilities. But if you want examples go to Symatec's website for some. An example would be a leak in some code I think with Power Point that allowed hackers to implant two viruses that will eventually control the computer.

When anything is exposed to vast media like internet it need to be secure and safe. In order to safeguard your PC from attacks ending up in losing data, ensure that you have backup, ensure that if there are external attacks data integrety is maintained.

Get softwares like Antivirus, Firewall, anti-spyware etc to keep your system free from disasterous damages.

For various types of vulnerabilites....visit any antivirus website and try to check virus encyclopedia which will describe symptoms, consequences and removal steps for each known virus type or its definition.
