Hi! I used to be a singer many years back and over here I can share with you a little of my knowledge with regards to singing. When you sing, you must sing using your diaphragm and not your throat. The voice must come out from there in order to product strong and powerful voice. Do breathing exercise every morning. What you do is; stand upright, place your left and right hands on the lower part of your stomach; which is the diaphragm and breathe in the air slowly, hold the air and count 1 to 15, release the air slowly and again count 1 to 15. Practise it over and over again for 15 to 20 rounds and do it consistantly every morning until you can increase you count to as longer as you can. Learn to speak from your diaphragm instead fo your throat and that will minimise throat problem if you need to use your voice every now and then throughout and on everyday basis. Also learn to control your voice and produce different pitch and tones as you are more experienced in your practice. This way, you will be able to express through your voice without having to scream and shout from your throat. Screaming and shouting is a form of abuse and it is very abrasive, causing friction and dryness in your throat which may result in laryngitis and throat inflammation. Moreover, it can even damage your voice box and spoil your voice. Please do take good care of your throat so that you will not be sorry. To maintain the health of your throat and voice quality, mix honey and lemon juice with warm water and drink regularly. Alternatively you may take Ricola throat sweets and sip a little cold water to cool your throat if you happened to feel some discomfort in your throat. Well, there are also some herbs concoction which can be bought from the traditional Chinese Medical Hall. It is in a packet form and it's cheap. Otherwise, you may even ask the shop assistant to mix the herbs specially for maintain healthy throat and voice quality at a cost. Brew and consume it in accordance to the instruction given by an experienced medical hall assistant or proprietor. Hope the above is beneficial to you. Just a little sharing....

practice this.....tear off a small piece of paper about 1-2 inches square....hold it on the wall with your finger and blow....keep it there as long as you can....it's harder than it sounds...you can use a watch to time yourself...and try to do better each time. You can also try what's called "circular breathing"....get a glass of water and a straw...blow bubbles in the water (like a little kid), and don't let the bubbles stop. when you get almost out of air in your lungs, close off your throat with as much air in your mouth as possible, and take a quick deep breath through your nose, then open your throat back up...the trick is to use the air in your mouth to keep the bubbles going while you take another breath.
