I'm thinking it was intentional and that whoever had passed away had a great sense of humour and would probably be tickled that it amused you.

There is argument that laughter is really bearing ones teeth....like an animal which maybe "uncomfortable"....a "release".
Its an "instinct"....like when someone falls down....its not funny but a lot of people would laugh. Again animal instinct....falling down shows weakness...."bearing the teeth" shows disdain for weakness from and for the "pack" so to speak.
I think it may be Freaudian but certainly is part of some psychology I have read.

OOPS! I hope you laughed quietly, out of respect!!

I was at my bf's house yesterday, and his family and I all had a meal together. We had watermelon for afters, and his (ageing) dad slurped it so badly!! I was trying to hold the laughter in, but it sorta exploded, really loud!!

I also can't help laughing when my son farts, he makes such a scene about it, and they are so loud for a little guy! I know I should tell him off, but it cracks me up!

yea, human can be cruel sometimes-
there was one famous singer in SA who used to give out roses at his shows- and then another famous one committed suicide by shooting himself in the head-
the joke evolved from this was :" we think it is realy hot down there, and because Freddie Mercry also died at the same time, they say that these two should not bend down to put in coals to keep the fire going, (he was gay) and that "Guns and Roses" is joining him- that sound funny at the time - but not very thoughtfull
