I would need lists to pick out movies I'd consider exceptional.
Here's a couple that come to mind.
Hopefully, at least one or two you haven't already seen.
A truly funny, classic, off the wall, comedy is 'Where's Poppa", I compare it in it's uniqueness to "Bad Santa", (another, will be classic movie).
"Let it Ride", trust me, is a must see Richard Dryfess comedy.
Camron Crowes, "Almost Famous", see it if you haven't already. (The airoplane scene's worth the price alone). It's classic.
Bill Murray's, "Groundhog Day", if you haven't seen it, see it.
An oldie but goodie,"The Man Who Would be King" is a thumbs way up for Sean Connery and Michael Cain.
"Shawshank Redemption", if, by any chance you haven't, it's time you do. Throw "Crash" in with that too.
For a change of pace, try "The Wild Bunch". The complete version. It's a truly great, one of a kind, western.
If, by chance you like a western here's a few more, Clint Eastwoods, The Unforgiven. and a modern day, Matt Damon- Penelopy Cruise's " All the Pretty Horses."
Did you ever see "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?" two great actors,Paul Newman,Robert Redford, in a great movie.
See Robert Redford in "Jerimiah Johnson"
Back to Clint Eastwood. See his award winning " Million Dollar Baby", if you haven't already seen it, is a one in a million.
Steve Mc Queens, "The Getaway," is a thumbs all the way up, adventure. In all fairness, the Alex Baldwin, Kim Bassinger remake is a neck in neck competitor.
If you like Tom Hanks he has a few very good movies, like "Forrest Gump" and "Big" to name a few but my favorite, and must see is a very different roll for him, as a Prohibition era gangster in, "The Road To Perdition".
A great, real movie, see Sally Fields and a great cast, in, "Places in the Heart".
If you want to see a real classic, one of the first truely suspenseful, sci- fi, (alien type) films see the original "The Thing."
Not enough? here's a few more for you.
"Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "Snatch", both great fun.
"Pulp Fiction","Usual Suspects","L A Confidential","Heat" for more fun with a gun movies.
Speaking of heat, "8 1/2" ,with Mickey Rouke,& Kim Bassinger, is a different type date movie.
A truely different old classic, and make sure to get the French made original,"Les Diaboque" is a dynamite, good time mystery.
For shear, stand up, courage, "Braveheart" and "Das Boot", are must see's.
There's enough here for any length weekend.
Good Luck and enjoy.

If you want to navigate this movie weekend for movies she will enjoy, try the Notebook, Can't but me love, Failure to Launch, Thief of Hearts, Pretty in Pink, and the Breakfast Club.
These are movies she will love guaranteed, and you might like them as well.
Byy showing her you can select movies on her behalf she will see that you are not selfish and think of her in your actions.
Good Luck and happy viewing.
